Sapori di Regalpetra

Sapori di Regalpetra

Sapori di Regalpetra was born with a motto: "We are sun and wind, water and earth of Sicily". Salt is undoubtedly the first and main seasoning that humanity discovered, as well as the most widespread and effective natural food preservative, at least until the advent of refrigerators and freezers. It is no coincidence that the word "salary", derived from the ancient Roman practice of paying wages in salt, since it was such a precious commodity, is still present in our vocabulary today. Basically, there are two types of edible salt in the world: sea salt, obtained through the evaporation of seawater, and rock salt or halite (from the Greek words for salt and stone), which is extracted from caves and mines. Rock salt is a mineral formed in prehistoric eras from the retreat and drying up of ancient salty seas and lakes, which left behind beds of extremely pure sodium chloride (that is, salt). Rock salt deposits can be found all over the world, sometimes exactly where we would least expect them. Among the most famous are those of the Himalayas in Tibet, in Namakdan in Iran, in Salzburg—which takes its name from being the "city of salt"—in Poland, in South America, and here at home in Tuscany and in Racalmuto, between the provinces of Agrigento and Caltanissetta. And it is precisely from the Racalmuto deposit that the Sali di Regalpetra are selected. Alongside a wholegrain, extremely pure salt, brothers Carmelo and Giuseppe Brucculeri, in their workshop just a stone's throw from the quarry, have combined it with what the wonderful land of Sicily is immensely rich in: intoxicating scents and aromas. This is how, for our delight and as a valuable and original aid in the kitchen, the rock salts flavored with lemon, Nubia garlic, pink pepper and mandarin, or Nero d'Avola grape marc, were created. To further enrich the Sapori di Regalpetra range, Carmelo and Giuseppe offer us a range of natural powders with an exceptional scent and fragrance, including: caper powder, orange and cinnamon powder, wild fennel powder, and lemon and ginger powder. With Regalpetra, marinades, salt-crust cooking, aperitifs, and seasonings for pasta, vegetables, fish and meat take an innovative and decisive turn. Cooking to believe it!
