Paola prepares her goodies with simple, genuine ingredients, without adding thickeners, colourings or flavourings. In the company's kitchen, every day there's the scent of a thousand delights made using the
fruits of their own woodland: here is the
Hawthorn Jam
Hawthorn Jam
Hawthorn is one of those
ancient, forgotten fruits. It brings to mind "
Valentino" by
Giovanni Pascoli: "O Valentino dressed anew, like the
buds of the hawthorns! alone, on little feet worn by the bramble you wear the skin of your little feet"
. And how could we not mention
Fabrizio De Andrè in the song âInvernoâ ("Winter")
"Love will still pass close by us
In the season of the hawthorn
The weary earth beneath the snow
Sleeps the silence of a heavy slumber.."
The hawthorn has deep roots: loved since ancient times, already by the Celts and the Romans. A symbol of prosperity and peaceful life. It is credited with antioxidant properties and is considered a natural source of wellbeing.
An opportunity to rediscover
the unique flavour of this plant that grows in our woods. We gather
our berries as gifts and customs inherited from other peoples. We put the utmost
care and gratitude into what we do. Its flavour tends to be sweet, and it is rarely eaten as a fresh fruit, usually being used as a jelly or jam with an intense taste.
Carefully harvested in the woods surrounding the company, the scent and flavour of this fruit takes our minds on a stroll through the
Tuscan woods.
How to enjoy it: Perfect for
breakfast with fresh bread or spread on rusks. To pair with
yogurt. To garnish ice cream.
All our jams have a sugar content ranging from 10% to 25% maximum, depending on the ripeness of the fruit.
We add
no thickeners, colourings or artificial flavourings.
Gluten-free.
