Vallagarina I.G.T. Sennen The only Italian winery to produce this wine from single-variety Sennen grapes, aged in old barriques, characterised by soft tannins and a spicy bouquet. Sennen is a red wine from Vallagarina, a wine-growing area in the southern part of Trentino, known for its calcareous soils, warmer climate and the influence of the Ora del Garda wind. The wines produced are intense, soft and elegant. It pairs very well with roasts and sliced beef, roast chicken and light game. Maso Salengo is a small family-run business, a family story dating back to ancient times, as early as the early 1900s the Raffaelli family produced wine and in the '80s the business acquired the name and current brand of Maso Salengo. Always attentive to quality raw materials and respectful of their land, it is here that they produce the Vallagarina I.G.T. Sennen. The winery cultivates about ten varieties, carefully chosen among those best suited to their soils, varieties that can best express the peculiar characteristics of each vine, taking care of every aspect of the vineyard and the transformation of the grapes to obtain wines of great value. The winery produces 5 white wines and mainly red wines, and it is here that the Vallagarina I.G.T. Sennen is produced, obtained from single-variety Sennen grapes.
Specification: Vallagarina I.G.T. Sennen
Grapes: 100% Sennen (Rigotti 107/2 cross).
Wine with an intense ruby red colour with violet hues.
On the nose: a spicy bouquet with notes of forest berries.
On the palate: its tannins are soft and velvety with a pleasant taste.
Fermentation in steel, ageing in old barriques, followed by rest in the bottle.
Rebo Rigotti, famous geneticist of the Istituto Agrario di S. Michele a/A, created interesting new varieties including Sennen, brother of the more famous Rebo. Grown in the marly soils of the first hill of Volano, it expresses itself as a ruby-coloured wine with violet nuances, a spicy aroma with a hint of small forest berries, a warm, pleasant taste, with soft and velvety tannins. A different, pleasant and persistent wine.
Awards: the only winery to produce this wine as a single varietal, obtained exclusively from Sennen grapes. The 2015 vintage received the prestigious recognition from the Guida Perenne Vini d'Italia.
