The Azienda Due Palmenti is located in Pedara, a town situated on the slopes of Etna in the Due Palmenti district, in the heart of eastern Sicily, a land rich in great rural traditions handed down for generations. This is where Sicilian Rosemary is produced. Sicilian Rosemary: green hills and majestic Etna in the background; the climate here is characterised by mild winters and hot, sunny summers. The soil is sandy and rich in elements originating from the lava flows that have followed one another over the centuries, making it a place well suited to a wide variety of native and local crops. Here the habitat is ideal for aromatic herbs, which grow vigorous and intensely fragrant, as well as rich in aromas and intense, unique flavours. The company supports sustainable agriculture with a low environmental impact, with the precise aim of obtaining genuine products that enhance the typical character of the territory and local traditions, while at the same time achieving the highest quality standards. Here they grow seasonings and herbs for every recipe and every moment of the day, from breakfast products to first courses, main courses and desserts, seeking to combine tradition and innovation. Grown under the Sicilian sun, our aromatic herbs bring fragrance and flavour and release intense scents and aromas, making your dishes unique. Available both in the dispenser format with a double-opening snap cap that doses while preserving freshness, and in the practical freshness-saving zip bag that keeps the aromas unaltered for a long time, as if just picked.
The name comes from the union of two Greek words, "rops" meaning shrub and "myrinos" meaning fragrant. The etymology may also refer to the Latin "ros marinus", sea dew, or "rosa maris", rose of the sea, a name that referred to its spontaneous growth along the coasts. It is a shrub with numerous narrow, elongated leaves and clusters of small violet flowers. It is a typical plant of the Mediterranean belt, with an ideal habitat of sandy, arid soil, typically in coastal areas. It is harvested from spring until autumn. In the kitchen it is extremely versatile: in the preparation of focaccia, baked and grilled meat and fish, roast potatoes, baked vegetables and for making excellent marinades. It is also used to flavour legumes and soups. It is used for the extraction of its essential oils, pinene, camphor and limonene. Rosemary has been known since ancient times for its beneficial effects on human health; indeed, numerous medicinal properties are attributed to it, including: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, expectorant, antidepressant; it stimulates the appetite, aids digestion, strengthens the heart muscle and circulation.
