Sicilian Mint green hills and majestic Etna in the background, the climate here is characterised by mild winters and hot, sunny summers. The sandy soil, rich in elements originating from the lava flows that have followed one another over the centuries, is therefore a place suited to hosting a great variety of native and local crops. product card: Sicilian Mint

From the Greek âmínthèâ = mint. A name linked to the legend of Mintha, a nymph loved by Hades, the God of the Underworld. Out of jealousy, Hades' wife, Persephone, transformed Mintha into a plant that was at first insignificant, but moved by compassion, she gave it the beloved aroma that we all know today. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, with a colour between green and purple. The flowers range from violet to white, and its scent is intense and distinctive. It is found in meadows, along paths and by streams. The leaves and flowers are harvested between June and September. In the kitchen it adds a fresh, aromatic note, perfect for tea and herbal teas and infusions. Fish and meat dishes. Seafood risottos and salads. Fruit salads and fruit platters. Well known for its properties and used since ancient times. It is rich in menthol and is credited with anaesthetic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic and carminative properties. It is useful for treating colds and coughs; it aids digestion.
