We are in the province of Arezzo, where the Birrificio Valdarno Superiore âBVSâ is based, an artisan brewery that produces top-fermented beers inspired by its local territory. Production uses the finest selected raw materials, and this is where Birra Malafrasca Kolsch is brewed. Besides a love for their homeland, Tuscany, making craft beer also requires a passion for beer itself. Beer with no compromises and no added flavourings or preservatives. The company has a small secret for making its products: water. It has a private well that draws directly from the aquifers of extremely pure water beneath the brewery, fed by local springs. Here the water drawn is particularly hard, rich in minerals. This characteristic helps the yeast during fermentation, a key element in producing a quality craft beer.
Wheat Beer Using Malafrasca's water, this beer is born in the Wheat Beer style. It is the «house» beer made with Malafrasca water, ideal for creating a Kolsch style beer at 4.2° Alc., lightly flavoured with lavender flowers. Sensory description: Reference type Kolsch. Hazy golden beer at 4.2° Alc., top-fermented and bottle-refermented. Wheat and Barley malt used to create the beer wort, fermented with the typical Kolsch yeast. Compact and lingering white foam, fine and long-lasting bubbles, true to style. Delicate, fresh, floral aromas, with grainy notes; the small, pleasant bubbles stimulate the taste buds. A pleasant finish given by the lavender flowers of the Valdarno, which never overpower the aromas of the hops but blend in perfectly. Very refreshing and revitalising on the palate, the wheat balances well with the flavourful barley malt, making it highly drinkable. Glass: Kolsch glass, tall and narrow, fine glass. Serving temperature 5 °C. Alcohol content: 4.2% Vol Availability: all year round Alcohol content: 4% Vol. Fermentation type: top, bottle-refermented Colour: SRM 2.4 Bitterness index: IBU 11 Type: Wheat Beer
