Chili pepper belongs to the genus Capsicum, term that originates from Latin capsule, diminutive of capsa refers to the shape of the fruit which resembles a box with seeds inside. It could also originate from the Greek kapto that is to say bite, referring to the spicy taste that “bites” the tongue when tasting. The fruits have the characteristic spicy flavour due to the presence of capsaicin. The flowers are white and bloom between late spring and summer. The fruits vary in shape and color depending on the different cultivars and also in the spiciness. For its habitat it requires good exposure to light and well-drained soil. The fruits that are harvested in summer are used.

Used in the kitchen by all spicy lovers. It is used in numerous spaghetti recipes such as the classic one garlic, oil and hot pepper, to pasta all'arrabbiata. To flavor pizzas, meat and fish dishes, soups and legumes and for flavor cured meats and cheeses.

Az. Agr. Due Palmenti si trova a 610 m slm, nel cuore della Sicilia orientale, alle falde dell’Etna, verdi colline cullate da inverni miti ed estati calde e irradiate dal soleggiate. Il terreno beneficia da elementi stratificatisi da epoche remote in occasioni delle colate laviche. Qui il giovane agronomo Martino ha scelto di dedicarsi alla coltivazione delle erbe aromatiche.  Il  suolo è particolarmente ricco e vocato alla coltivazione di erbe che grazie vicinanza con l’Etna riescono a sprigionare caratteristiche organolettiche di particolare pregio ed aromaticità.
