From the Greek “mint”= mint. A name related to the Legend of Mintha, a nymph loved by Hades, God of the Underworld. out of jealousy, Hades' wife, Persephone, transformed Minthain a herb at first insignificant, but moved by compassion he gave it thebeloved aroma that we all know today. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, with a color between green and purple. The flowers range from violet to white and its scent is intense and characteristic. It is found in meadows, along paths and at the edge of streams. The leaves and flowers are collected between June and September.

In the kitchen it adds a fresh and aromatic note, perfect for tea and herbal teas and infusions. Fish and meat dishes. risottos sea and salads. Fruit salads and for fruit slices.
Well known for its properties and used since ancient times. It is rich in menthol and it is attributed with anaesthetic properties, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative. It is useful for treating cold and the cough; aids digestion.

Az. Agr. Due Palmenti si trova a 610 m slm, nel cuore della Sicilia orientale, alle falde dell’Etna, verdi colline cullate da inverni miti ed estati calde e irradiate dal soleggiate. Il terreno beneficia da elementi stratificatisi da epoche remote in occasioni delle colate laviche. Qui il giovane agronomo Martino ha scelto di dedicarsi alla coltivazione delle erbe aromatiche.  Il  suolo è particolarmente ricco e vocato alla coltivazione di erbe che grazie vicinanza con l’Etna riescono a sprigionare caratteristiche organolettiche di particolare pregio ed aromaticità.
