The Alchemist

"... pour the wine, the excellent Marzemino!" Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in agreement with his librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte, chooses this wine for his final menu of the famous Don Giovanni (second act, fifth scene). Probably because as a young man Mozart held his first Italian concert in Vallagarina (Trento), the production area of Marzemino. This vine, which various legends want brought by peoples of Asia Minor in search of a new homeland after the destruction of Troy, has found in the black earth of the micro alluvial valleys from the Adige the ideal place to give the best of oneself. The Marzemino dei Ziresi, a small area on the outskirts of Volano, is kept in contact with the skins for a few days during fermentation and from this it draws delicious fragrances and floral and fruity notes. It is a gentle and elegant wine, but also full-bodied, with a rounded taste given by the aging in cask and at least 2 years in the bottle. The color is ruby red with brilliant reflections. It goes well with dry pasta, vegetable terrines and white meats.

The Marzemino dei Ziresi

Marzemino is a teaTypical Trentino vine grown in Vallagarina here the company cultivates the vine with pergolas and in some areas with ancient vines. The type of land where it is grown is an important factor, here we are in the area of the Ziresi is a small area north of Volano particularly suited to Marzemino, it is in fact located on a clayey soil, which enhances the wine's body, color intensity and aroma, also giving it greater softness, thanks to a not pungent, but rounded acidity.

Maso Salengo

In 1969 the wines began to be bottled and from 1980 the name became Maso Salengo.   Yesterday as today, the family is proud to produce the Marzemino soft and structured thanks to the clayey nature of the soil. In the vineyard, the Marzemini are pergola-trained in some areas with ancient vines, after all it is no wonder, here in Vallagarina this vine is a true protagonist and its mentions were made and quoted by the librettist Da Ponte composing the verses of the Don Giovanni set to music by Mozart: "Pour the wine! excellent Marzemino! ".

The company produces a dozen varieties of grapes, chosen among those most suitable for its land and produces some white wines, but mainly red wines.
