Testa Conserve

Seafood preserves

Since then, fishing for blue fish has been joined by al bluefin tuna. Bluefin tuna is one protected marine species. Its fishing is possible only by combining 3 aspects: knowledge of the sea and its currents, love for the territory and the fish fauna and transparency and full compliance with the laws in force. In fact, from the Atlas, the 42-metre long ship equipped with the fishing of bluefin tuna. On board the presence of an observer from the ICCAT (world organization for the protection of species), the capture of each individual specimen is communicated to the Ministry of Agricultural and Food Resources in real time. This is to never exceed the quotas assigned to each individual company.

I would like to reiterate that despite the modern technologies and equipment used, bluefin tuna fishing remains artisanal fishing. A non-intensive fishing that takes place every year between the months of May and June, for 30 days. The tuna are caught with purse seines. After reaching maturity, i.e. between 2 and 4 years and weighing at least 15 kg, they are then transferred to large tanks 50 meters in diameter and 30 meters deep in the Strait of Sicily. Here they are fed exclusively on oily fish until slaughter.

In 2017 the Testa Conserve line was born: a line of seafood products of the highest quality. exclusively fished with their own boats and produced in a virtuous and bio-sustainable way and presented in an elegant and exclusive packaging.
